Options For Independence is an Independent Living Center which assists people with disabilities to gain opportunities, make their own decisions, pursue activities and become part of community life. We provide a variety of services to all people with disabilities, their family and friends in Cayuga and Seneca Counties.

 

Peer Support

Staff with disabilities are trained and available for one-to-one and group discussions. Call us! There are few problems we can't work out together. (Our fully accessible conference room is available as a meeting place for individuals or support groups.)

 

Rights and Advocacy

Expand Them. We can assist you to secure and enforce your rights as they pertain to access, education, employment, health care and housing.

 

Information and Referral

Just Ask Us! We have information about accessibility, equipment, state and federal benefits, referral services, support groups and more. Just ask us and we'll help you find the answers.

 

Annual Conference

Acquire The Skills You Want. Options hosts an annual conference each spring with topical issues and workshops for consumers, agencies and individuals.

 

Resource Library

Use Our Books. We continually develop and collect information and subscribe to a variety of journals and disability related periodicals, including a magazine written in Braille for your use. Options has a selection of books on tape and the necessary equipment to use them from the Library of Congress Talking Book Program that may be borrowed by consumers.

 

Community Education

Speaking Out. Options can provide speakers and programs on disability-related topics to churches, schools, parent groups, service providers and others.

 

Equipment Loan

We Can Help. Options has wheelchairs, portable ramps, walkers, crutches, canes, bath tub grab bars, TTY's, television decoders, and a wide variety of other equipment for short term loans.

 

TTY (Telephone Teletype) Service

We have a TTY for use by persons who are deaf or hard of hearing. Our TTY Number is 315-255-3447.

 

Architectural Accessibility

Design Consultation. Options staff can provide on-site accessibility consultation relating to living situations, community facilities, and work sites. Technical assistance is provided to individuals and businesses to aid and encourage them to make buildings and facilities accessible.
